ZACHARY CATRON

COMPOSER
La Dame de Monte Carlo

Zachary Catron is an award-winning composer, lyricist, and performer who bridges the gap between new opera and musical theatre. New York City premieres include the ballet Training in Love (Rovaco Dance Company), the string quartet Lessons Learned (JACK Quartet), and the full-length musical The Battle, Not the War. The Battle, Not the War received its first production at Feinstein’s/54 Below in early June 2019 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The premieres of Catron’s orchestral work Fathers, Sons, and Daughters Too (Mannes Orchestra) and his original music for the play War Stories (The Tank) have been postponed due to COVID-19.

As a classically trained pianist and violinist, Catron plays regularly for Brooklyn Youth Chorus. He has music directed and composed songs for the Musical Theatre Songwriting Workshop at NYMF (2018) and his own incidental music for Fuente Ovejuna: A Disloyal Adaptation (The New School for Drama). He audio engineered, orchestrated, and arranged for the Zoom movie-musical Little Boxes (dir. Shannon Delijani) and composed songs for the short musical film How to Fall Asleep. Catron currently studies Graduate Musical Theatre Writing at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He is a member of ASCAP. www.zacharycatron.com
